Holiday Events 2018

We had such a fantastic response to our Summer Calendar that we figured we would put together a Holiday one too!

On the Event poster you will find as many events as we could find – we even put a call out to you to make sure we didn’t miss a thing – to take you through the 2018 holiday season in and around Campbell River!

Because there was just SO much going on in this great city we call home, we had to keep the information as simple as possible and we still have 3 pages! You will see what the event is, the date and time it’s happening and a link for you to punch into your device of choice to find all the little details.

We hope you find this helpful and fun to print off and have in your home! Leave us a comment so we can find out if this is something you’d like us to continue or if there is anything different you’d like to see.

See you all out there!

Deanna and Sam’s Favourite Things…Day 5!

This week has flown by! It’s Day 5 and the last post in our Favourite Things series. Today we’re talking about local Christmas shopping. We have some really great local businesses where you can find all kinds of fabulous gifts for everyone on your list. We thought we’d share a couple of our favourites with you!

Willows Market located in Willow Point is perfect for just about anyone on your shopping list! Look for a wide array of gourmet, local foods and beautiful decor for both indoors and out. Deanna is especially loving all of their fun plaques!

Do you have an outdoor enthusiast to find a gift for this year? If you want a great selection of gear for fishing, hunting, camping and everything in between, Tyee Marine is the place to go. The staff is always incredibly helpful, especially if you walk in with the name of an item and no earthly idea what it looks like or what it does. This store is jam-packed with great stuff. There are lots of books and different ideas like these custom home address signs.

And lastly, for the fashionable ladies on your list (we’re talking to you husbands), Ragdolz is a gorgeous local shop containing the latest in trendy apparel, shoes and accessories. They have just recently moved to a new location on Shoppers Row and it is filled to the brim with everything from stocking stuffer ideas to bigger ticket items you know she’ll love. We are big fans of the We Wood watches and anything Mat and Nat. They also carry Hunter Boots in lovely colours to help brighten a rainy day. Check out their Facebook page to see their 12 days of Christmas special with a new discount or sale everyday!

Deanna and Sam’s Favourite Things…Holiday Edition!

Today’s post is all about Decorating for Christmas!

This time of year I love decorating the house. I am a throw pillow addict. One closet is already dedicated to throw pillows, and since Target has moved to town it’s officially full! Target is a GREAT place to buy a couple of festive pillows. I personally love the golds and silvers. Maybe I might pick up a bright turquoise or classic red. Or you can add a throw blanket in a festive colour or pattern to introduce a bit of Christmas magic to your room.

white pine decorating

You don’t have to wait until Christmas Eve to snappy up your table. I like to bring the outdoors in (no need for Febreeze). I prefer white pine myself, but snipping a few pine, fir and cedar bows and arranging them on your mantle or just a bit in a vase is easy and smells delicious. I even pop fir bows into my outside planters since they’re empty of all their summer flowers.

My all time favourite decorating technique is simply using Christmas balls. I fill huge glass vases, dishes and even old wooden crates .Then I put them all over the entry, the bathroom (all over the house really). You can keep it all solid colours or you can mix them up.

Happy Decorating!

Let Us Introduce You To…Dragonfly Vacation Suite

A wise realtor once told Deanna that “these young folks are so silly these days working 50 weeks a year to save enough for 10 days in Hawaii every winter”.
We are lucky to live in a mini vacation paradise here on Vancouver Island.  For a fraction of the price of a trip to Mexico you can stay on the white sand beaches all around us.
Or you can take advantage of a true winter getaway less than an hour down the highway.
Mt. Washington is a beautiful and family friendly ski hill where you can spend the day riding fresh powder while looking out over the ocean at the same time.
This is where the immaculately appointed Dragonfly Vacation Suite is located. Situated in a prime location to the Raven Lodge as well as the lifts, Dragonfly will be the perfect place for you to come and relax after a long day exploring all that Mt.Washington has to offer. You will find a well stocked and renovated kitchen, three bedrooms to accommodate up to 9 people, full laundry facilities, living and dining area, private patios with BBQs, underground parking, heated outdoor pool (the only one on Mt Washington) and a hot tub!!You will also have access to an entertainment center complete with DVD player & cable television as well as WIFI.

Take advantage of some fantastic specials available such as the Mid Week Special. Book before the season begins and stay Sunday to Thursday night (5 nights) for $575. (certain restrictions apply)

Here is Deanna’s testimonial about her stay with Dragonfly:
We just booked with another family for a week at Dragonfly Vacation Suites. The cost will be less than the fuel to and from Mt. Washington and we get to seriously relax and take it all in!
This rental is beautiful, spacious and great location. The kids love the hot tub and pool. And the parents like to take advantage of the gaming system for some late night battles!
